Silent Hill Nurses

Aside from the unenviable Bloody Spider Veins on their legs, the nurses from silent hill are so unbelievably hot! It makes me understand why girls want fake boobs or wonderbras. How amazing would it be if Victoria Secret used these nurses for a Halloween ad campaign?

I normally stay away from horror imagery but thanks to my boyfriend and his obsession with it, I now find myself dreaming of being chased by zombies etc. The Silent Hill nurses are one of the "nicer" inspirations I've gotten from him. Now I am obsessed with finding latex white nurse costumes for Halloween. Thanks Hunny! (I'm being sarcastic)

Heavy Metal Magazine - Print Inspiration

I found this 3 pack of 1980's Heavy Metal Magazine at Half Price Books today.
The girl on the cover is the inspiration for Debbie Harry's Album Cover. The content is a bit gory for my taste but the cover art of the magazine is wonderful.

Denim Bum Flap - Edited Out from the 'Joan' Collection

I was so excited to put this in the collection for 'Joan' but it made more sense to just keep everything in wool. But I love it all the same and will find more uses for them. (I say them because I made a couple bum flaps. So excited to wear them!!)

F/W 2010 - Wishlist Item 1 - Versace

via style.com

I never thought I'd see the day when a Versace dress would be at the top of my wishlist.

Does anyone else ever wish they could just wear floor length dresses that drag for casual errands? I'd love to wear it to pick my boyfriend up from the airport, except in white!

Fashion Videos are the New Books On Tape

This is not meant to be a good thing. I personally hate books on tape. It takes away my right to imagine and formulate my own opinion or story behind the picture. As much as I love Miu Miu...and assorted other brands who have decided to jump on this band wagon, does anyone else find it obnoxious?

It's like in America's Next Top Model when Tyra says you need to be a spokes person. NO, YOU DON'T. Models are not meant to talk. They are meant to look good and you only really need to use a photograph to capture a great moment in time. Videos spoil the romance.

I compare it to books on tape because I don't need some deep voiced british man, even if it is Ian Mckellan, to narrate Harry Potter for me. Really, I'd rather just imagine the voices myself because no matter how awesome Ian Mckellan is (Side note: Ian Mckellan doesn't actually do the Harry Potter Books on Tape, I am just giving this as an example cause it's some British guy who's doing the reading (look a parenthesis within a parenthesis! I have actually made another assumption. I may have listened to Harry Potter books on tape for a minute and don't actually remember whether or not the reader was British), he is not Hermione Granger, nor Professor McGonagall, MAYBE he's Professor Dumbledore, but that's it. No one else.

I doubt the fashion vids are going to stop anytime soon, as books on tape are still very popular, but just because ipads/iphones are in everyone's hand doesn't mean you have to make fashion videos for them. You can just do a really awesome slide show? LOL. Ok now I sound like a dinosaur who hates technology.

No. No. No. No. NO!

American Vogue September Issue 2010
THE COVER IS AWFUL. It looks like a jewelry commercial. Halle Berry stick to your boy cuts. You with a bob is awkward. I try to be positive about things you know, I get it, American Vogue looks different from all the other ones because they feature celebrities on the cover and not models. It's a shame because generally the other shoots inside are ten thousand times better than the cover. If you insist on continuing with this celebrity stuff, can we use someone other than Mario Testino? Because maybe then, the covers will stop looking so heinous.

'The Spacer' - copyright

I hereby claim the copyright on a new term I've coined: 'The Spacer'.

The Spacer is the guy that gives you courage to break up with the guy you've been in a long term relationship with that you have long fallen out of love with. He is never 'The One' but generally sticks around long enough for you to make sure you don't get back with your ex out of boredom and gives you space to be single before actually dating the next potential long term or the love of your life. He can also help you realize the things you don't want in a man so you can identify what you DO want.

Disclaimer: I am not saying this is courageous but it works for those girls who cannot be alone and needs someone to cushion the break-up.

Janet Jackson's Belly Chain

Janet Jackson - "Again"

The 90s has been back for a while but where are all the belly chains? I know there are body chains but the belly chains are more subtle and in the case of the Janet Jackson video it's just damn sexy. Let me translate, this photo is a still from the scene where she's laying on the bed in a cropped white halter top and partially unbuttons high-waisted jeans; her gorgeous boyfriend is rubbing her awesomely toned abs and slowly slides his hand down, then he slowly drags out this belly chain. IT'S SO HOT. I don't know if Janet's abs will ever look that way again, but I'm going to try because it's the only way I can ever be justified to sport a belly chain!

Summer Favorites Part II

Chanel S/S 07
The whole of the Chanel 2007 Spring collection is still completely fabulous to me and encompasses everything I would like to wear this summer.
No, I don't care about the fact that it is no longer 2007, It was one of the best years of my life; and if you don't know, that Christopher Reeves' film "Somewhere in Time" basically stated that to time travel, you must clothe and surround yourself with everything of that period to trick your mind into changing dimensions. Now that school's over, I wouldn't mind returning to first year.

I believe it was Lulu De La Falaise who said something like 'Life is more fun when you wear beautiful clothes.' I'd like to add to it by saying it can also be more romantic because meeting the man of your dreams in a really really girly dress, no matter how cool and cyborg-like I want to be sometimes, has it's place, particularly in the summer. I love sitting outside my favorite coffee shop with an iced tea, this can really only be bettered by being in a baby-pink Chanel mini dress with the love of my life sitting next to me. I can't wait to get back to California for holiday. HOLLA!!!

I'm not a Gold Digger, I'm just Old-Fashioned!

I had an epiphany the other day and I would like to copyright this thought because it's so damn brilliant. My ex-bf used to always call me materialistic and a gold digger. I would rebuttal with, 'If I was a gold digger why would I be with YOU? You're poor as hell.' Which leads to this very important distinction between a gold digger and a girl who's just old-fashioned (ie. a man should take care of his woman): a gold digger would never date a man who's poor; an old-fashioned girl will date a poor man in the hopes that he'll love her enough to make more than enough to make sure they have the life that they always wanted together...and that's a good thing because it means you have faith in their intellect and their abilities for the future.

90s Pop Video Mania

Paula Abdul's "Cold Hearted Snake"

It'll forever be one of the most memorable videos of my childhood and a partial inspiration to my graduation collection.

Yellow Fever

If I had yellow fever (although technically I can't because I am an asian girl already), it would without a doubt be because of Janet Jackson's "If." Whoever did casting should be applauded for having excellent taste in picking cute asian girls because let's be honest, some people's taste in asian women is, as Bridgette Jones has said, "varnagrotesque!"

Sexy Is...

I used to think sexy was about a look until my friend Teddy said, 'Let me give you an example of what sexy is. Look at Jay-Z, he is the ugliest mother****er I've ever seen but he's sexy! He knows how to treat a woman and is confidant in himself. That's why Beyonce is crazy about him.'
Well said, Teddy, well said! For a guy to be sexy doesn't necessarily mean he has to be the most handsome guy in the world (Although from first hand experience, it's possible to be both handsome and sexy). Knowing how to make a girl feel like a princess, doing things that are rare these days like always picking her up from her home and dropping her off, stocking her fridge with yogurt you know she likes, knowing you are wanted and not letting yourself be a doormat while still giving her what she wants...that's sexy! Live and learn boys! That's how you become a man!

For Charlotte aka. FIRE

Us 'working girls' got to stick together innit?! LOL. Hey, whatever, 90s hooker is totally in right now. I don't mind being rescued by Richard Gere in a Lotus Espree (sp?) Seriously though, do hookers look this cute? Viv and Ki p look more like little street gang bitches to me. They're adorable!!

I Believe in Love: Part I

Rachel Feinstein and John Currin
I was reading the latest issue of Elle UK and came across an article about artist and Marc Jacobs muse Rachel Feinstein and how she met her husband of 15 years John Currin. It was one of the most romantic stories I'd ever read and I am absolutely loving the fact that they're still going strong after all that time.
They met during one of Rachel's exhibitions where she dressed up as Sleeping Beauty and lived in a gingerbread house that was on view at a gallery. John Currin was already pretty famous at the time for his paintings of nude women and one of his friends went to see the exhibition and told him the girl in the gingerbread house looked just like the women in his paintings. He went to see it for himself and when 'sleeping beauty' woke from her slumber, she saw him and decided to walk up to him and kiss him. Two weeks later, he took her to Paris and asked her to marry him (She said no, and he made her wait another 2 years before he proposed again).
I've been thinking a lot about love. I think it's pretty obvious how important it is to me; so much so that I wanted to start a new blog called 'I Believe In Love', where I'd just put stories and pictures of anything and everything that inspired and helped others believe in the power and reality of it. For now, I will keep it on my own blog. Hope you start believing too.
