I Believe in Love: Part I

Rachel Feinstein and John Currin
I was reading the latest issue of Elle UK and came across an article about artist and Marc Jacobs muse Rachel Feinstein and how she met her husband of 15 years John Currin. It was one of the most romantic stories I'd ever read and I am absolutely loving the fact that they're still going strong after all that time.
They met during one of Rachel's exhibitions where she dressed up as Sleeping Beauty and lived in a gingerbread house that was on view at a gallery. John Currin was already pretty famous at the time for his paintings of nude women and one of his friends went to see the exhibition and told him the girl in the gingerbread house looked just like the women in his paintings. He went to see it for himself and when 'sleeping beauty' woke from her slumber, she saw him and decided to walk up to him and kiss him. Two weeks later, he took her to Paris and asked her to marry him (She said no, and he made her wait another 2 years before he proposed again).
I've been thinking a lot about love. I think it's pretty obvious how important it is to me; so much so that I wanted to start a new blog called 'I Believe In Love', where I'd just put stories and pictures of anything and everything that inspired and helped others believe in the power and reality of it. For now, I will keep it on my own blog. Hope you start believing too.
